Our client consists of 350 employees working across 5 divisions and locations in the UK. They have an extensive product range including: steels, fine steels, tubular products, non-ferrous metals and plastics coupled with extensive processing and fabrication facilities to provide a one-stop shop solution.

Our client is currently seeking an enthusiastic and capable Buyer to join their busy Central Purchasing department based in Birmingham, West Midlands. Within this role you will be responsible for purchasing a range of flat rolled Aluminium products and managing a stock range worth £4 million within agreed parameters. You will also be responsible for managing enquiries from internal customers for a range of products.

The successful candidate will have worked within a purchasing role previously and will ideally have experience of metals and / or plastics. It would be advantageous for you to be MCIPS qualified (or be prepared to work towards this) and have knowledge of Aluminium market and Aluminium suppliers worldwide. You will have a calm disposition with the ability to work with a high degree of accuracy under deadline pressure. An excellent communicator both written and verbally, you will be confident when dealing with people at all levels and you will constantly seek to improve purchasing processes and procedures. You will understand the importance of cost effectiveness and you will actively investigate and develop new sources of supply.
